I. Preliminary Remarks

The great object to be accomplished in reading as a rhetorical exercise is to convey to the hearer, fully and clearly, the ideas and feelings of the writer.

"Speak"
Based on a novel by Laurie Halse Anderson
Poem written by Zoie Palan

There's
A secret
Kept-inside my soul

Always
Buried there
Never to-be told

I
Try to
Hide it away

Threatening
To break-out
Strong every day

Forgetting
Seems to-be
The only resting-place

Deep
In sleep
Another hiding place

People
Will sometimes
Speak to me

But
Usually I
Pretend not to-be

I
Tell myself
"Tight like glue

That
Way no-one
Can hurt you"

Now
It's time
To break free

Finally
Time for
Me to speak
